چکیده

Carbon dioxide is a green house gas that exists in earth’s atmosphere. In recent decade’s due to increment of population and rapid industrialization, the amount of CO2 has increased significantly and has caused global warming and other problems. Different methods are used for reduction of CO2 concentration in air one method is storing CO2 gas below the ground, but this manner doesn’t provide a long time solution, so in depth researches was conducted in the past years to investigate different methods of CO2 treatment. A noble method is using microalgae to reduce CO2 either from the atmosphere or fuel gases from energy plants. CO2 is captured by microalgae through photosynthesis and is permanently stored in form of biomass. Microalgae can also be used for treating wastewater that contains some amounts of CO2 and other compounds. Combination of CO2 treatment, biofuel production and wastewater treatment may provide a very promising alternative to current CO2 treatment strategies. This paper attempts to review the present day technologies for CO2 removal with a special emphasis on employing microalgae.

Metabolomics of Carbon-Fixing Mutants of Cyanobacteria by GC/Q-TOF

Mutants of the model cyanobacterium Synechococcus elongatus were evaluated by untargeted metabolomics to identify possible phenotypic changes that allow more efficient growth. The mutants were analyzed using the Agilent 7200 Series GC/Q-TOF, and changes in metabolite profiles were evaluated using Agilent Pathway Architect Software in Mass Profiler Professional. This approach identified a number...

Artificial photosynthesis on tree trunk derived alkaline tantalates with hierarchical anatomy: towards CO2 photo-fixation into CO and CH4.

Artificial photosynthesis, the photochemical fixation and recycling of CO2 back to hydrocarbon fuels using sunlight and water, is both a significant challenge and an opportunity that, if realized, could have a revolutionary impact on our energy system. Herein, we demonstrate one of the first examples using biomass derived hierarchical porous photocatalysts for CO2 photo-fixation into sustainabl...

Measurement and Analysis of Green Energy Economy Indicators in Iran (Measurement of Carbon Dioxide Emission and its Elasticity)

Achieving sustainable economic growth is one of the most important goals of countries' economic programs and policies in the current era. Along with economic growth, consumption of energy rises. Since fossil fuels provide a major share of the world's energy, increased fuel consumption is an inevitable feature of economic growth.  Continuation of this trend increases greenhouse gas emmissions, n...

Decentralized Energy from Waste Systems

In the last five years or so, biofuels have been given notable consideration worldwide as an alternative to fossil fuels, due to their potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by partial replacement of oil as a transport fuel. The production of biofuels using a sustainable approach, should consider local production of biofuels, obtained from local feedstocks and adapted to the socio-economi...
